Got to see 2 movies this week. One is Guru and the other pokkiri.
I'll start with guru..
"Aap sab logon ko shakthi parivar ka swagath"
Thats how the movie begins and ends. Shakthi being aish and Guru being abhishek. The movie is the life of a villager boy who gets out of a gujurathi gov school and becomes the no.1 industrialist in the nation. The story is more of that of Dhirubhai amabani. The fact that he also comes from a village not learning too much in childhood, starts the business with reliance textiles and then becomes no.1 fella and then get paralysed. Everythng happens in guru also except that in this, guru does anythng to get money in his life. That character is shown very well when he marries aish for the dowry, even though she is a yr older than him in the story. He grows and grows big very well,, not everythng as per law. He doubles his output by dividing the power units doubly without gov's permission etc etc.. Maddy does a neat job of a journalist investigating these.. ARR rocks like hell... His background score is unimaginably good. Though all the songs cud have been picturised better. But the way the actors have characterised with their roles r the best part in the story. The film slightly drags in between but that is compensated by ARR for sure. Abhishek delibrately grows a potbelly for the second half and does a fantastic job thru his acting. Overall Mani has done a classy film for sure. This man abhishek will go a long way, he is just gr8 in this movie. (Only movie that i have liked his acting). Well guru is worth watching once for sure.
Now then guru is over i'll move onto vijay's "pokkiri".
This man personifies himself as the next superstar in tamil industry. The movie is full of fight from the 1st scene to the last scene, inserted with 6 songs. Asin does a real cute job in the movie. My vote for her. She is growing good for certain. :D. Vadivelu does an amazing job in a scene with asin coming as surya in suttrum vizhi song. The whole theatre was laughing really loud. As for vijay and his dialogues i felt like running away from the theatre. One dialogue which keeps coming in the film is, " naan oru tharava mudivvu pannitta, yein pecha naaney kekkamaatein", which means "If i have decided something then I will not listen to even myself". He does the fighting well but the stories he gets r alllllllllllll the same,, just the same. He is a rowdy in the first half and an undercover police in the 2nd. This guy has no acting except fight and a huge mass following. He does give energy in the big screen but all his films dont even have 1% logic and sense. I think pokkiri cud hve been made 100000 times better for the small story they had. 1 fellow i liked in the movie was villian prakash raj, he really acts well especially when he keeps himself awake coz the police says they'll beat him up if he dozes off when in their custody..:)) He did that superbly. The film was aimed to be an absolute entertainer but it is one only for thukkada guys on the roads.. well mayb he targetted the film for them:) As for pokkiri u can surely waste 3 hrs easily. The "dolu dolu" song rocks in theatre,,all the others r just the same dappanguttu only, had no music. If u r an asin fan u can watch it for her otherwise goodbye Mr.Pokkiri...!!!
Sorry to give such an hopeless review for ur movie Mr.Pokkiri but naan oru tharava mudivvu pannitta, yein pecha naaney kekkamaatein. :)

lemme start with guru.....
A fantastic movie....one man show of Abhishek.....and dude...u missed out the performance of Midhun Chakraborthy.....and also ARR...he's GOD.... but Abhi...i cant agree that songs picturisation was not upto the mark...... there's no one better than Mani Ratnam in that.....a must see movie.....inspirational stuff....
And now on pokkiri....
NEE ALLATHE VERE AARELUM EE VAKA PAANDI PAADANGAL KAANAN POKUMO DA...????.....MLECHAM MLECHAM......
Hey sachin macha,, keep cool with ur "paandi" stuff ok?? Ur very much liked movie was made by a "paandi" maniratnam, the music is ARR also a "paandi"... U do ur paandi stuff anywhere u want,, but not with me ok?? hope u take it in the right spirits.. :)
Thanks for commenting.
Dey i would say that paandi is not a set of people or class. It's just the attitude that some show. I wouldn't call any Tamilian a paandi. But i would call Rajni as a paandi, i wd call Vijay as a paandi. But people like Kamal, Surya, ARR, Manirathnam are not Paandi's Coz they bring in the reality in the roles they do, allathe chumma paandi stuntsum dialogum maatram alla.
As far as guru goes, it's an iconic film, which is a necessity for any star and Junior B has done a great role n he brings out the face of a greedy industrialist very well indeed!
finally the dumbo abhishek has done something good....
till today, he survived on the big stage just because of the charisma of his dad... but on looking at his performance in guru, maybe he has a little of the class of big B...
